Thank you for visiting PedestalSource.com, a Xylem Design e-store. While the team here at Xylem Design produces a number of museum-quality display products, we designed this site specifically for our pedestal customers. PedestalSource.com offers a clean, information rich pedestal shopping experience designed with easy navigation in mind. We are always looking for way to update and improve the site, and gladly welcome your suggestions.
Xylem Design is Colorado-based manufacturing and distribution company headquartered in Old Town Fort Collins - a mid-sized town with a small-town feel. We're just a short drive from Rocky Mountain National Park, which offers an utterly spectacular experience for any visitor. Magnificent elk herds, knee-weakening ridge-top drives and a friendly Western attitude await you. If you're out this way, drop on by and we'll give you some pointers on the best spots to visit, like the Swetsville Zoo, a delightfully whimsical sculpture garden, and, for the serious art lovers, Loveland Colorado, the sculpture capital of the West. Fort Collins is also home to some amazingly great local micro breweries (New Belgium, O'Dell's, and HC Berger).
Xylem Design ("Xylem" being Latin for "woody tissue") got its humble beginnings in the basement of our founder's childhood home. There Greg Glebe spent countless hours designing and building wood-related projects - his first project dating back to elementary school. He now brings his passion and more than 30 years of hands-on experience to leading the Xylem Design team. Greg specialized in designing, engineering and construction of furniture, ultra-light aircraft, countless widgets, and manufacturing equipment.
Many of our products are patented or have patents pending, and all come with our total satisfaction guarantee. If you are ever dissatisfied with any of our pedestals or cube tables, contact us and we will fix the problem, replace the item, or refund your money. It's that simple.
While most of our pedestals and cube tables are handcrafted in Colorado, we also offer a few items produced by other manufacturers, allowing us to provide a larger selection at competitive prices.
"What goes around comes around..."
My parents and several other people whom I respect highly handed me some great age-old advice early on: "Treat others as you would wish to be treated." The Golden Rule, Karma - call it what you will, it all comes down to this: "What goes around comes around." That's the treatment we expect, so that's the treatment you receive. I will do whatever it takes to make sure you are satisfied with our products. If something slips by us or we bungle a job, let us know. We will do whatever it takes to set things straight.

Ashley and I wanted to take the time to thank you for our beautiful displays! We absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE them! They are so professional and extremely rich looking. We got tons of compliments on them at our trade show. I acutally gave your name and contact information to a woman who asked about them and was looking to get displays made. We can't wait to continue showing them off and hope we need many more in the future! Thank you again for all your hard work.

Thanks for following up!
My use of product probably wouldn't interest you much. I'm an artist and I got pedestal to be able to set "objects for drawing" on it so object is at good height for viewing and shining light on. If you want a photo of it "in situ", I'll be glad to send one.
I can say this though … the world of "internet service" is really turning out to be a tough deal. Meaning that, most places throw your order in a box and cross their fingers that everything turns out ok. No follow-up. Nothing ! (Not even sure they bother to cross their fingers!!!)
You folks should be the model for "how to do it right"!! I Couldn't believe how easy it was. Thorough. Amazing fast delivery!
Here are the steps that cause me to rate you folks #1 in service!

I am in the internet business, and own one of the top content management firms in the country. This is perhaps the first time I have ever received an email from a vendor, following up on an order, including their picture (very personal) and virtually asking for nothing in return. In other words, 'this is how to do it', and you are doing it right...
I used your pedestals, which arrived 'perfectly' to rig a home theater in my home. The normal pillars and pedestals sold in that industry were 'ludicrously' priced, and with a little ingenuity, mine turned out awesome.
In this rather dark photo, you will see your pedestals holding up some Asian floor lamps to give the illusion of custom made pillars. If I would have had these made (custom) it would have cost me $1,500 a piece (with 6 pillars I would have shelled out 9,000). With your pedestals (2,000), and my floor lamps sitting on top of them (1,200), I weighed in at 3,200 and 'beat the man' out of nearly $5,800.
You are going places.
Rock on!

we ordered 2 of your pedestals & used them at Accessories The Show in the Javits Center, NYC, on Jan 6-8. They worked very well for us. I've attached a couple of JPGs showing them in use at our booth

I hope you've been well! I wanted to send over some photos of the Verizon pedestals in action. The pedestals were a huge hit at our event this past weekend, and our client loved them!
Thanks again for all of your help, and I hope to do business with you again soon! :)

Starting out on the lean journey can be tricky. What it takes is a leadership team fully committed to the lean transformation and willing to take the lead.
For CEO Greg Glebe, a new convert to lean, that means grabbing a toilet brush and Lysol.
"The bathroom is where it starts," Glebe says.
Glebe, founder of Xylem Design, a Fort Collins, Colo.-based manufacturer of pedestals for art, museums and trade shows, took advice from lean advocate Paul Akers, author of "2 Second Lean" and founder and owner of FastCap LLC, a Bellingham, Wash.-based product development company.

Akers, who promotes making "two-second improvements" -- simple, fast process improvements -- suggests creating a culture ripe for lean implementation by first transforming the company's bathroom to lean standards.
By setting cleaning standards in the bathroom -- a room used by all employees -- the workforce sees firsthand what lean in action looks like and has a launch pad from which it can begin implementing lean in more traditional work spaces.
"There are strong visual controls for everything," Glebe says. "You keep it immaculate. And everybody cleans that bathroom. I clean it."
The shared responsibility of cleaning the bathroom works to eliminate the hierarchy present in business, in effect equalizing employees. And that's a necessary component of empowering workers, Glebe says.
"The idea at the very foundation of it is you have to cultivate creativity and respect for other people," he says.
From that point, the tough challenge of becoming lean is made simpler. Employees feel empowered to suggest better ways to do things and to fix the problems they deal with every day.
Glebe's approach to engaging workers is to encourage them to create 30-second videos showcasing the changes they've made. The videos are then uploaded to the company's YouTube channel and reviewed during the Lean Lunch -- a daily hour-long meeting of all employees.
The Lean Lunches are intended to be upbeat rallying cries of sorts for the workers to see and share the progress being made, and feel like a crucial component of that process. Glebe often shows videos from pleased customers and encourages open discussion amongst the team.
A key objective at Xylem Design is to create a culture where people aren't afraid to talk about mistakes.
"We talk about mistakes every day at lunch," Glebe says. "You can take that fear and replace it with true empowerment," by accepting mistakes as opportunities for change rather than as a need for discipline.
Already, the process is showing results. Xylem has 80 videos on its YouTube channel, most of which are instructional two-second improvements employees have made.
Chris Riemer, who has worked at Xylem for seven years, says the videos are like a game, a challenge he wants to conquer.
"It's about finding a simple thing that'll make it easier for you to do your job. You take pride in that," Riemer says.
For example, the company's ordering process used to be long and cumbersome. The staff put together a value stream map and decided to eliminate the middle man -- in this case the general manager -- from the process, instead delivering orders directly to the production manager. They also removed the plastic sleeves in which orders were previously placed, cutting the redundant action of inserting orders into sleeves.
"In a manufacturing environment, there are zillions of things that bug you and there are zillions of things that you can improve," Glebe says.
But it takes an open-minded leader to create a holistic culture of equality that will encourage and motivate employees to improve the process.
